Check out my new virtual home on the 3D net: Realitea~ A hub world for easy travel to my web VR spaces. Visit in your web browser with no downloads! Powered by Mozilla Hubs.
My final project as a participant in the Mozilla Hubs “Artist in Residence” program - Synthcity
A cyberpunk-esque city inspired by synthwave and the 80s.
I recommend that you set your movement speed to the highest (2.0+) and hold Shift as you move, as this is a huge scene (in terms of distance, not file size). I really wanted to go big on the size in this scene so that in VR you can really feel the scale of the buildings.
Enjoy~!
My VR avatar pack for Mozilla Hubs, based on the Chinese zodiac, is now complete! Most of the avatars are already publicly available in the official avatar gallery. The remaining ones just have to go through a final approval.
The entire avatar pack will be available under a CC-BY 3.0 license to everyone in the Hubs community. You’re more than welcome to download each model and customize it to your liking, as long as you provide attribution.
I’ve released yet another Blender addon - this time for the Source Engine mappers / modders out there.
It’s designed to make it easy/fast to generate collision models for Source Engine games, like TF2, L4D2, Gmod, etc. Click on the link for full details on what the addon can do.
I just released my very first Blender addon - Material Batch Tools.
It allows batch modification of many materials and nodes simultaneously, on multiple meshes, and also automates common repetitive tasks on models with many materials. Very useful for baking many textures into one - such as with megatextures, texture atlases, etc.

Mozilla just published my guide to building retro sprite-based worlds in social VR platform, Mozilla Hubs. 🎮👾
This is my first published project as a participant in Mozilla Hubs’ Artist in Residence program. I can’t wait to see the worlds that people will create 🎨🥳
Mozilla Hubs - Artist in Residence
Those who follow me on other social media platforms likely already know, but in early December, I began my participation in the new Mozilla Hubs Artist in Residence program. You can read a summary of the program here, and the announcement post here.
For those unfamiliar, Mozilla Hubs is a 100% open source social VR platform, in which you can meet up with others online, hang out, and explore worlds created by others just like you, with or without VR. Hubs is totally web-based, so it runs on almost any modern device with a web browser, regardless of operating system.
In just a few short weeks, I’ve already prepared a lengthy tutorial which will teach you how to create your own retro 2D sprite-based world for Mozilla Hubs. I’ve created many of those worlds myself in the past (see the link for examples you can try out!), but now I’m excited to share the process I use, so that you too can make your own VR tribute on the web to your favorite retro games! The tutorial will hopefully become available soon!
I’ve also begun to contribute to the Mozilla Hubs Blender addon project on GitHub. So far, I’ve created a set of 3D gizmos for the addon. These gizmos will add a visual indicator to 7 additional Hubs components, which will help make those components more user-friendly and visually identifiable.
And all of this in just the first month! I intend to make great use of my time in the Artist in Residence program and contribute as much as possible to this amazing software. Mozilla has created something truly magical with Hubs, and I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it over these next several months.
Virtual Pets - in VR!
In early August, I started taking an online Udemy course to learn JavaScript. After only a month, I felt prepared enough to make my first app. And I just released it, open source, on GitHub!
Introducing my new Pets app for the Overte social VR platform. For those who don’t know, Overte is an open source alternative to VRChat. It supports JavaScript as its in-game scripting language, making it relatively easy to get started making addons/apps for it.
The app will let you create a pet that follows you around as a loyal companion. You can feed it once per day, and it’ll level up after every 3 feeds. If you know your way around a 3D modeling program, you can even add your own custom pet species to the app, since it’s fully open source and free for anyone to modify.
Now that I’ve begun my journey as a programmer, I’m excited to be able to compliment my 3D art and VR projects with my new skills. I’ll be able to do much more than just create visuals, going forward.
Screenshots of a full server hanging out in my Pioneer 2 map for TF2.
This server has the map on the rotation and runs it every once in a while. You can also /nominate it via the chat command and then /rtv to vote for it.
(If any other servers are hosting the map on their rotation, feel free to reply to this post or message me and I can add your server’s info here!)
